A Brief History
Alamedas' first Sing-It-Yourself Messiah was organized in 1995 by volunteer choir directors, choir members, community representatives to provide Alamedans with a Messiah of there own. Since that time, soloists and musicians from all over the Bay Area have participated in the annual free performances, and many have generously donated their services. Current organizing committee members are Terry O'Connor, Josh Cohen, Gesine Lohr, Pat Sahadi, Leslie Sullivan, JaNet Hancock, Marilyn Johnson, Harry Reppert, Eva Fields, David Howitt, and Michael Moran.
